TO A CHRISTIAN WHO GREW UP IN CHRISTIANITY AND WROTE TO CORRECT ME

It sounds like we both grew up the same and for most of my life I would have written to me the same thing you did so I know your heart is sincere in worrying about my eternal destiny. Today I love Jesus Christ and have a far closer relationship with him than ever during my fundamentalist Christian days. Today I am convinced the bible was written by men who had mystical experiences but it is far from inerrant and I could give you a great many reasons for my opinion. Christian doctrine is extremely divisive as evidenced by the Catholic religion, Eastern orthodox religion, the Mormon religion, Jehovah Witnesses and the thousands of different flavors of Protestant Christianity. All of these use the bible as their guidebook and yet many are enemies and holy wars and crusades have been fought in the name of Jesus defending different interpretations.
