Is Jesus a Savior or Something Else?

History is written by the victors. The Judeo-Christian religion has been a major force in shaping the consciousness of the west and thus the world today.  Christianity was built on the story of Jesus as a savior by formulating doctrines instilling guilt and fear into the collective consciousness of the people. This religious programing began in infancy and until the last “heretic” was executed by the Church in 1826 daring to question Church doctrine could cost us our lives.

Jesus, Buddaha, Krishna, same message

I believe a stronger and more logical case can be made for Jesus as an “Avatar” to set humanity free from religious indoctrination than as a “Savior” to start  another religion. The winners of the doctrinal war in the 4th century set the story of Savior Jesus in stone. They gave us the bible, creeds, doctrines, sacraments, holy days, traditions, churches and a priesthood to teach and enforce the doctrines of the Church. Savior stories are perfect for building empires allowing a few at the top of the pyramid live lives of great wealth and power by controlling the minds of the masses.

Avatars, like the Buddah, Krishna, Lao Tsu, and Jesus, who in my opinion is the greatest of the many avatars, come to empower the people by showing what we can become. The message of Jesus in the gospels is that we are not born guilty, God is not an angry God as portrayed in the Old Testament, the Kingdom of heaven is within us now, we are one with the Father just like Jesus is, and we don’t need priests, temples, or sacrifices to be in good standing with our Creator. A people empowered by this reality cannot be made slaves to governmental or religious hierarchies.

Christianity’s  belief in Jesus as a Savior was mandated upon all citizens of the Roman Empire in 380CE under fear of retribution by the state to any who refused. Just like Stockholm Syndrome the citizens living in the shadow of the empire accept the belief as truth and defend it passing it on to their children. Children born into the Belief System accept it without questioning and the System takes on a life of its own becoming self-perpetuating.

The System will continue until people begin to question the beliefs of the System despite the fear of questioning that was built into the System. The belief I am talking about is the Christian belief that Jesus came to die for us as a “savior” rather than coming as an Avatar to free us from the Priestly hierarchy that he taught against and that crucified him.

I just posted a video on this subject where I explain in more detail. I welcome thoughts and comments, because we are so divided today and I believe the message of Jesus in the red letters can do more to help save humanity than anything else.
